Activities
The activities of the ASIM unit are structured around three axes:
Axis 1 aims to describe the diversity of marine invertebrates and pathogenic micro-organisms;
Axis 2 aims to understand the interactions between invertebrates, pathogenic micro-organisms and the environment;
Axis 3 aims to anticipate the emergence of diseases and new forms of marine invertebrates.
The ASIM unit develops research, innovation and support for public policies. By integrating multidisciplinary expertise around genetics, pathology and physiology, the ASIM unit plays a key role in the sustainability of the aquaculture sector of marine invertebrates and in the monitoring of coastal ecosystems in particular shellfish.
The ASIM unit benefits from national and international influence by participating in national and European projects and by carrying out the tasks of the European Union Reference Laboratory (LRUE) and the National Reference Laboratory (LNR) for marine mollusc diseases.
The ASIM unit is also the World Organisation for Animal Health (WHO) Reference Laboratory for two regulated diseases of bonamiosis and marteiliosis.
